the bounce stops here

Yesterday I ran 2 miles eliminating the slow warm up and long cool down that I had been doing during my pregnancy.

Half mile - 4mph
Half mile - 4.5 mph
Quarter  mile - 4.8 mph
Half mile - 5.2 mph
Quarter mile - 5.5 mph
It felt great to stretch myself, however I NEED a new bra to support Alexander's food supply. At one point I was running while holding my breasts - not fun. As a result of the uncomfortable feeling I have ordered a bra from Enell.
I've ordered mine in black. They are not cheap. With shipping it was just over $80.00. It should be here by Thursday - report to follow.
They profess to be designed for the well endowed. I think a breast feeding new mom definitely covers that.
It seems as though Oprah has given them her approval - that has ZERO to do with my purchasing the bra.

Enell were designed to enable well-endowed women to exercise and work out in greater comfort.  ENELL's unique patented construction gives women of all shapes and sizes, the support they need.  At ENELL, physically fit comes in all sizes.

In addition to the run I also did the Tracy Anderson Post Pregnancy Method workout. However, after I did some reading and I should probably hold off on doing this ab workout until I'm sure that my abdominal muscles have returned to their rightfully place. Apparently they separate while pregnant.

Today's weight: 194.2

on the run again

First run today at day 19! I managed 2.75 miles on the treadmill while husband was watching Alexander this morning. It felt great, especially after seeing the scale creep up 3 lbs.
Alexander is the one supposed to be gaining not me! I think it's because of my one slice of pizza - water retention.

Workout:
Five minutes - 4.0 mph/incline 1
Five minutes - 4.5 mph/incline 0
Half mile - 4.8 mph/incline 0
Half mile - 5.0 mph/incline 0
Half mile - 5.2 mph/incline 1
Quarter mile - 5.5 mph/incline 0

Cool Down - 4 minutes gradual decline to 3.0 mph.

Hopefully I will be able to grab a run tomorrow too. I really need to get a better bra support system. Currently I'm running with two bras.

Worth the weight

Nothing could have prepared me for motherhood. It's like nothing I've ever imagined. While difficult and demanding at times, it's definitely worth the reward of having that precious little monkey here with us.

I was never too stressed about gaining weight during my pregnancy, as I knew it was all for the good of my little progeny. Total weight gain was 41 lbs. I had been trying to keep it under 40, close enough. The biggest surprise was how little weight I lost by the time I came home from hospital. - a total of 5.6 lbs. Considering our little man weighed in at 6lb 14 oz, I was shocked. I guess being pumped with IV's and pitocin had a bloating impact too.
Quickly the numbers on the scale started changing. I am now down 20 pounds to 193. I've been holding steady at this weight for the past 4 days which is a good thing.

Presently I'm having a difficult time breast feeding, I'm considering going dairy free to see if this will help with the fussiness and difficulty latching.

Goal weight: 143 - only 50 more to go!!

under construction

No matter what the Doctor says, I can't help weighing myself everyday. It's just something I do. The daily adjustment from one reading to another is appealing to me in some way. Yesterday I wasn't too thrilled to see the scale hit 212, today I was glad to see it at 210.2. Where does 1.8lbs go overnight?

Like I said yesterday I think I was retaining water. Today my feet aren't nearly as swollen as they were yesterday.

Weight: 210.2
Exercise: 1 mile hike with the dogs. I've decided not to run until I see the doctor tomorrow for my week 39 visit. She will do an internal exam to see how much more I've dilated.

I suspect the little fella is going to come August 3rd, although with all these changes lately he may come next week! We are ready for him in the sense that we have ALL the stuff you're supposed to have to bring a baby home. The only thing we don't have at this point is a room.

It's still under construction, which in the end works out fine as he will sleep in a bassinet beside me.

Breakfast: 1 low fat string cheese. 1 toasted english muffin with peanut butter and raspberry jam sprinkled with flax seed, green tea.
Lunch: Mixed green salad with raspberries, chicken, parma cheese and light ranch dressing
PM Snack 2 Trader Joes' Maple Leaf cookies (110 calories each) and 1 small snickers bite.

Activities: Nesting. Sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and as always laundry. I really do laundry every day. I can only imagine how much this will increase with the wee one.

Dinner: going out for Mexican with one of our dogs breeders to celebrate her birthday. Easy on the chips.

early start day

Normally I sleep until 8am, then poke around the computer then take the dogs for a hike. Today I was up early and it's already getting hot. At 6:30 am it was 73 outside. I decided to take the dogs early this morning. It was a nice 1.12 mile hike in our canyon.

We only saw two bunnies, no deer, although we left some bread for them along their trail.
Now it's time for feeding!

Weight this morning: 212 yikes!! Some part of me cares and another part of me thinks, this pregnancy journey is nearly over and the decline should start shortly there after.

I intentionally cropped my feet out so no one has to see my veiny swollen feet except me.

Now off to Starbucks to get the Sunday coffee for husband and blueberry scone for me! I wonder why I'm gaining weight. I really feel a lot of this recent gain is water retention.

38 w 3 days

Today was a no exercise day as I worked out every day this week. I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon. All went well with that. According to her scale I weigh 211. My scale said 209.8 this morning.

Early in the evening we had to go to the hospital after calling the doctor. I was bleeding and with my history the doctor wanted to be prudent and do an internal exam. All is well. I am 1 cm dilated, thick and high. No baby for a while.

I was going to go to spin class tomorrow. Cancel that idea. Safety first.

not quite there yet

Welcome! I will be documenting successes and trials of my journey from pregnancy weight (final TBD as I'm starting this at 38w 2d pregnant) to a post pregnancy goal weight of 140 or size of 8 - which ever comes first. They're both numbers, and I can't quite remember how well they co-relate to each other. My actual pre-pregnancy weight is somewhere between 168 - 172.

Over the years prior to getting pregnant, I had gained about 20 pounds - some from laziness and snacking and some from being pregnant and miscarrying. My body just didn't drop any of the extra weight it had picked up early in the first pregnancies.
My pregnancy weight gain so far according to the Dr. is 36 lbs. In the first trimester I gained 14 pounds!!

Today's weight: 208.8. I may still gain more weight before my baby boy comes.

Today's exercise: walking 4 miles with a friend and my 2 dogs.

What I've eaten today:

Breakfast - 1 english muffin with scrambled egg, melted swiss; 1 soy pattie
AM Snack - small cup of green tea and 2 maple leaf cookies. What's tea without cookies?
Lunch - Mixed green salad with cucumbers and chicken, topped with small amount of ranch dressing, followed by a piece of my delicious galette.
PM Snack - big down fall even when not pregnant: 5 pm - handful of tortilla chips, 1 snack size Snickers bite
Dinner - smoothie with 1 banana, 1 cup blueberries, protein powder, choc milk, flax seed and ice

Running has always been in my life. It started as a training tool when I was 12 for basketball and has continued all through my life. At 43, I haven't run a lot of races. My longest is the Long Beach Half Marathon 2010. I always have a marathon in the back of my mind.

All through my pregnancy I've been running, spinning and swimming. This week I ran 3 miles on Sunday, spin class Monday, ran 2 miles on Tuesday and ran 2.5 miles on Wednesday.
